HELD
85 Hour Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training
An embodied, somatic and therapeutic approach to supporting women through pregnancy, birth and early postnatal integration
More than a training. A professional community.
Yoga Kula, Leeds
November 2026 – March 2027
This is not simply a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training.
Held is an invitation to deepen your understanding of pregnancy beyond anatomy and postures.
It is a journey into what it truly means to hold another human being through one of the most profound transitions of their life.
Whether you are a yoga teacher, doula, birth worker or healthcare professional, Held will give you the confidence, knowledge and embodied skills to support every woman who walks into your space.
Rather than simply learning what to teach, you'll discover how to teach—with presence, sensitivity and deep understanding.
Because pregnancy yoga is never just about movement.
It is about relationship.
It is about nervous systems.
It is about identity.
It is about becoming.
"I particularly loved Lara's nurturing teaching style – a beautiful blend of softness and strength."
– Hannah Fraser
Why Held?
Many pregnancy yoga trainings teach safe postures and trimester modifications.
Held begins there.
Then it asks the bigger question.
What does this woman need, in this body, in this moment of her life?
Rather than relying on predetermined sequences, you'll learn how to respond to the person in front of you.
You'll begin to understand pregnancy through a biological, psychological, emotional and social lens, allowing you to teach with confidence, adaptability and genuine care.
Because every pregnancy is different.
Every birth is different.
Every story is different.
What Makes Held Different?
Held combines modern somatic approaches, yoga, therapeutic movement, birth education and nervous system science to create an experience unlike traditional pregnancy yoga trainings.
Throughout the programme we explore:
• Pregnancy physiology
• The nervous system
• Birth preparation
• Trauma awareness
• Women's health
• Identity and matrescence
• Relationships
• Culture
• Pelvic health
• The wider systems influencing maternity care
Rather than asking "Which posture comes next?", Held teaches you to ask:
"What would best support this person today?"
What Will You Become?
By the end of Held you'll be able to:
• Teach specialist pregnancy yoga classes with confidence.
• Adapt every practice to meet the changing needs of pregnancy.
• Understand the emotional, psychological and physiological journey of pregnancy.
• Support nervous system regulation through movement, breath and rest.
• Guide birth preparation using practical tools and therapeutic approaches.
• Hold space without feeling the need to fix.
• Understand trauma-informed principles while recognising your professional boundaries.
• Build a sustainable pregnancy yoga offering with confidence.
• Become part of an ongoing professional community dedicated to supporting women.
What is Somatic Practice?
Somatic simply means of the body.
This training is less concerned with idealised shapes and more concerned with each person's lived, felt experience.
Rather than teaching students what their body should do, Held teaches you how to help them listen to what their body is already communicating.
Drawing from Body-Mind Centering, Feldenkrais, Movingness, Authentic Movement and contemporary nervous system theory, you'll begin to teach from embodied understanding rather than memorised techniques.
At its heart, Held is about genuine service.
Meeting each person where they are.
Holding space for difference.
Knowing your scope.
Teaching with care.

A Personal Letter from Lara
If you've read this far and something in you is stirring, I want to say this.
That stirring matters.
This work called me long before I was pregnant myself.
Over the last twenty years I've come to understand that pregnancy yoga, taught well, is one of the greatest gifts a teacher can offer.
Not because of the postures.
Because of the space.
Held was created because I genuinely care about the women who will come to your classes.
I believe the quality of holding we offer others is directly related to how held we have been ourselves.
Only you will know whether this is your next step.
But if something within you recognises these words...
I would be honoured to welcome you.
With love,
Lara x
Ready to Be Held?
Pregnancy changes women forever.
The people who hold them matter.
If you feel called to become one of those people, we'd be honoured to welcome you into Held.

Lara...
Lara is a Senior Yoga Teacher, teacher trainer and threshold doula with over twenty years of experience guiding and supporting people through yoga, pregnancy, birth and profound life transitions.
For much of that time, pregnancy and birth have been at the heart of her work.
What began as teaching postures, breathwork and sequencing gradually evolved into something much deeper: an exploration of what women truly need while growing new life, preparing to give birth and finding their way back to themselves afterwards.
Lara is a Certified Senior Yoga Teacher (Yoga Alliance Professionals), Well Woman Yoga Therapist, Mizan Abdominal Massage Therapist and Birth Doula.
Her somatic training includes Body-Mind Centering, Feldenkrais, Movingness, Authentic and Intuitive Movement, Somatic Psychology and Trauma Resolution. She is currently midway through a three-year Somatic Experiencing training.
But what Lara brings to Held extends far beyond qualifications.
It comes from more than two decades of sitting beside women during one of life's greatest thresholds.
Listening deeply.
Witnessing transformation.
Continually learning what it truly means to hold space with presence, compassion and care.
